Dawn announces the Black Era and the date of the release of "Blackheart"

Come October, it will be Dawn Richard mania all over again. Fans of Danity Kane have been rejoicing and praising the music Gods (no, not Yeezus) ever since news broke that Danity Kane would indeed be re-uniting. But before they get a chance to truly unite (Aubrey has already announced plans for a reunion album and TV show), Dawn Richard will be releasing her second studio album, Blackheart. Blackheart comes just 10 months after the initial release of her debut album, Goldenheart.
When asked about the 2nd part of her trilogy, Dawn responded “It’s kind of the realization that the music industry isn’t as great a lover as I thought it would be. So the fall is a bit more harsh. Whatever GoldenHeart was, where I came in whimsical and it was a bit more dreamy, BlackHeart is way more real, way more harsh, and way more brutal. And we’ve gained that in sound. I love it because it’s way more club-friendly and way more aggressive in the lyrics. This might be my more commercial album out of all of the albums that I do, but it’ll never really take away from the sound that I’ve created with my team.” With BlackHeart, I think people are going to realise that the fall isn’t as sweet as you would think it is. When you fall and hit rock bottom, that aggression and that rock bottom is a whole different type of sound. We’re going to play with a lot of synth and a lot of EDM this time around.” The lyrics to BlackHeart, like I said, are a bit brutal. It’s way more honest and way more raw. So things are less decoded and less poetic, and more real and more relatable for people to understand. The sounds and the drums and 808s are way harsher and way heavier. We’re laying on that 808 this time, whereas inGoldenHeart the snare and the claps were leading the album. It was very top snare heavy. BlackHeart will be way more 808-heavy.”

Le 7 octobre 2013, Dawn Richard sortira son deuxième album studio, Blackheart. Blackheart vient seulement 10 mois après la version initiale de son premier album, Goldenheart.
Lorsqu'on l'interroge sur la 2ème partie de sa trilogie, Dawn a répondu "C'est une sorte de prise de conscience que l'industrie de la musique n'est pas un aussi grand amant que j'ai pensé qu'il serait. Ainsi, la chute est un peu plus dure. Quelle que soit GoldenHeart était, plus lunatique et un peu plus rêveur, BlackHeart est beaucoup plus réel, de façon plus sévère, et de façon plus brutale. Et nous avons gagné que dans le son. Je l'aime parce que c'est beaucoup plus convivial, clubbing et de façon plus agressive dans les paroles. C'est peut-être mon album le plus commercial de tous les albums que je fais, mais ça n'enlevera jamais le son que j'ai créé avec mon équipe. "Avec BlackHeart, je pense que les gens vont se rendre compte que la chute n'est pas aussi douce que vous pensez qu'elle soit. Nous allons jouer avec beaucoup de synthé et beaucoup d'electronic dance music cette fois-ci. "Les paroles de BlackHeart, comme je l'ai dit, sont un peu brutal. C'est beaucoup plus honnête et de façon plus crue. Donc, les choses sont moins décodé et moins poétique et plus réel et plus relatable que les gens comprennent. Les sons, les tambours(808) sont beaucoup plus sévères et d'une manière plus lourde. Nous posons sur une 808(tambour) cette fois, alors que dans GoldenHeart la snare (aucune traduction) et les claps menaient l'album.
